Createam AV Director

Graduate of the Applied Arts College in Prague, currently leading the the animated cartoon workshop at FAMU (Film and Television Faculty of the Dramatic Arts Academy) in Prague. He specializes in animated (mainly cartoon) film and illustration.

Recently he has been combining animated cartoon work with the animation of real objects. He is the author of a series of films, television blackouts, TV bed-time stories, jingles and commercials. Pavel Koutský represents the absolute “cream of the crop” of Czech animated cartoon makers. His greatest international successes include the Gold Bear Prize at the 1987 Berlin Film Festival, First Prize and Critics´ Prize in ESPIGNO (1987), Main Prize for animated cartoon films in TAMPERE (1987) awarded to the film “CURRICULUM VITAE”, Silver Bear in BERLIN (2000) for the film “MEDIA”, Main Prize in TŘEBOŇ (2001) for “PYGMALION”, and Czech Lion 2007 for the artistic aspect of the film rendering of Jan Werich´s book Fimfarum.

In Createam, Pavel Koutský participated in the “People and Money” permanent exhibition project for the Czech National Bank, creating the animated cartoon film “Of Banks and People” (updated version “Of Money and People”). Another of his major pieces of work in Createam is the animated cartoon series produced on the occasion of the referendum on the Czech Republic´s EU membership for the European Commission Office in Prague, and the animated cartoon “From Grandfather Czech to the Union”, made in conjunction with the Czech Republic´s EU presidency.
